Christchurch Antarctic Festival
The Programme for the Christchurch Antarctic Festival 2008 is full of fun events for the whole family! The Festival will take place on 26 September - 3 October 2008. See www.antarcticfestival.co.nz for more information.

Welcome to Antarctic Link Canterbury, showcasing the many links between Canterbury, New Zealand and the Antarctic. Please browse our 'Antarctic Links' section and contact us if we have missed any connections.

Enjoy our heritage and continuing links! Canterbury was linked geographically to Gondwana. While searching for 'Terra Australis' Captain James Cook named Banks Peninsula. During the past century these links have been strengthened as some of the world's greatest explorers, scientists and artists have left from Canterbury, by ship or by air, to learn more about themselves and the remarkable lands to the south.

The people of Canterbury share the courage of men and women such as Scott, Shackleton, Byrd and Hillary, supporting and participating in their achievements, and developing new products and services to support modern endeavours.
